Invite near

Add the bot. Put its role high. Confirm it can talk.

You will

near is in the server, high enough to manage roles, and able to answer in chat.

Examples use the default prefix, a comma.

Before you start

  • You can add bots to the server. Discord owner is enough.
  • Have a channel near will be allowed to read.

Set it up

  1. Add the bot. Use Get bot. Pick a server you can manage. Approve the permissions. Type in chat after the bot joins.
  2. Move the role. Open Server Settings, then Roles, and drag near above the roles it manages.
  3. Confirm it can talk. Send ,ping in a channel near can see.

  • Do not leave near at the bottom of the role list.

Troubleshooting

  • If Discord never finishes the invite, you are not allowed to add bots in that server.
  • If ping works in one channel and not another, check channel permissions for the near role.

Verify it works

  • near is in the member list.
  • Its role sits above the roles it will manage.
  • ,ping replies in a test channel.
